Nadia Pasquer – 17/2. Polyèdre blanc 25 x 25 cm
- Born in 1940 in Lons-le-Saunier (Jura)
- Visual Art Studies
- 1961-72. Drawing teacher at the Alsacienne School, Paris.
- 1974 . Creation of workshop and a high-temperature wood kiln in Morogues (Cher).
- 1989 onwards. Polished pieces smoked in sawdust-fuelled kilns
- More recently, development of her work on white pieces
Geometrically the objects that I model originate from a sphere, Plato’s perfect solid, starred polyhedra, crystalline arrangements. My work is an intuitive and infinite declination, from this geometry which generates volumes built from a “mobile principle”, without base or direction, they are positioned on their own balancing point bearing their centre and their movement from within. Each object is unique. Together they form a unity. Polished, engraved, and perforated in order to form a celestial map, they are, to quote Gaston Bachelard in “La terre et les reverie de la volonté” (Earth and Reflections of the Will), “the synthesis of images of deepest earth and starry heavens.” Smoked, they are a brilliant black, and are both captors and emitter of light – objects of contemplation. White, they design light and shade in soft or extreme contrast.
