Céramique contemporaine de Flavie Van Der stigghel à la galerie de céramiques

Flavie Van Der Stigghel, Superposition Acier, 2015, terre cuite émaillée, h. 28 x 21 cm. Photographies Anne Nguyen Dao.

As spring approaches, the Galerie de L’Ancienne Poste at Toucy in the Yonne in Burgundy which is devoted exclusively to contemporary ceramics, is dedicating the first exhibition of the year to its permanent artists, with the annual spotlight on one of them.  Thus the 2016 exhibition presents the unseen work of Flavie Van Der Stigghel who last year joined the gallery’s group of permanent artists, having the traits in common of a strong identity coupled with the ability to experiment with the specific property of the medium of clay.

As fore-runner to her second personal exhibition (to be held in 2017) at the Galerie de L’Ancienne Poste, Flavie Van Der Stigghel proves here her ease in putting movement into the material, and brings to it a glaze belying any reference to clay.  Entitled “Compression” or “Superposition”, her sculptures renew the traditional genre of ceramics.

A selection of works by ceramists Gisèle Buthod-Garçon, Robert Deblander, Agathe Larpent, and Nathalie Pierlot completes this new installation.
