Ann Van Hoey invites Léa Renard

28 February - 26 March 2026

Opening on Saturday 28 February from 5 pm with the artists

For the exhibition that traditionally opens the year’s programme at Galerie de l’Ancienne Poste, Belgian artist Ann Van Hoey, one of the gallery’s long-standing artists, invites young French ceramist Léa Renard, a former student at the CNIFOP in Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye. Both artists have developed a ceramic language that borders on design.
First noticed at the Ceramic Biennale of Vallauris in 2008, Ann Van Hoey (born in Belgium in 1956) has since been featured in numerous exhibitions and has received multiple awards. Her works have entered some of the world’s most prestigious collections, from New York’s Museum of Arts and Design to the Musée Ariana in Geneva, as well as the Royal Museums of Art and History in Brussels. After a first exhibition in Toucy in 2017, she joined the gallery’s permanent roster the following year and now stands among its key artistic figures.

Léa Renard (b. 1993) is among the most promising emerging artists on the contemporary ceramic scene. While the exhibition includes several of her larger works, viewers are struck by her mastery of the small formats, which resemble coloured miniature sculptures reminiscent of objects in a cabinet of curiosities, laden with meaning and history.
With such a series of miniatures, Léa Renard was awarded the prestigious Faenza Prize for Young Ceramic Artists (Italy) in the summer of 2025. Together, her works suggest a living landscape, where each gaze reveals new interactions and hidden narratives. Following in the footsteps of her elder, material becomes her playground.
