For summer 2025, Galerie de l'Ancienne Poste is pleased to present a new solo exhibition by French sculptor Sophie Favre. Renowned for her singular universe blending tenderness, mystery and fantasy, the artist unveils here several series of recent earthenware works , a medium in which she masters all its subtlety.

Inspired as much by Flemish Renaissance painting as by the world of comic strips, Sophie Favre invites us on an original journey: animals in human form, timeless humans, expressive busts or moving figures make up a gallery of characters that are in turn funny, melancholy - and profoundly human. The exhibition reveals a poetic world, populated by touching creatures sculpted with finesse and emotion.

The exhibition brings together twenty-six earthenware sculptures and five bronzes, offering a captivating insight into the world of Sophie Favre.

Sophie Favre in Connaissance des Arts

An artist's job is to invent a world. Sophie Favre's is unlike any other. Her rabbits have hands, dogs wear caps, cats have tattoos, mice wear glasses... But beyond their playfulness, it's their expressions that interest the sculptor. Thoughtful, perplexed, questioning, curious, dreamers... her "characters" have character. [...]

Sophie Favre had already unveiled her universe in Toucy with a first exhibition in 2013, which aroused the curiosity of visitors and collectors alike, who were more accustomed to discovering abstract productions at the Galerie de l'Ancienne Poste. She returns this time with some thirty previously unpublished pieces, created over the past two years. They mainly feature animals, but also a few human figures. Her work has matured. His pieces have an even stronger presence. This solid group of terracottas is complemented for the first time by five patinated bronzes.
