After her first solo exhibition in New York earlier this year, emerging young artist Ahryun Lee returns at the end of the year to the gallery, that gave her her very first exhibition in France in 2022. Ahryun Lee confirms her talent and creative potential through some twenty works specially created for the event.

Ahryun Lee biography
Exhibition catalogue

"For her second solo show at Galerie de l’Ancienne Poste, Ahryun Lee continues to develop her pop and candy-colored universe. She returns with a series of characters that play with uninhibited seriality and, at times, with a gentle touch of nostalgia, she revisits the full range of human passions…
Biomorphic to the core - half-animal, half-plant, and almost always in motion - Ahryun Lee’s characters convey, at first glance, a sense of cheerfulness and vitality. Yet they also carry a reflection on human nature, memory, and absence - themes the Korean-born artist enjoys cultivating in her Munich studio.
When she left Korea in 2013, her mother gave her a book by Kim Chun-Soo, whose poem Flower left a profound mark on her. In it, the poet describes the metamorphosis of a gesture into a flower - the pleasure of becoming someone’s flower… It suggests a transformation of immaterial feeling into fragrance - that each of us might become essential to another, yet still hold the power to disappear from the gaze of those dearest to us… Blossoms emerged from this poem for her first gallery show, while the present exhibition focuses on some twenty figures in metamorphosis, gestation, or motion – each deeply connected to the living pulse of nature."
