Alistair Danhieux - Océane Madelaine

November 9, 2013 - January 5, 2014

The Galerie de l'Ancienne Poste in Toucy closes its 2013 program by entrusting its space to Franco-British ceramist Alistair Danhieux, thus welcoming the artist to the gallery's Board of Directors. To mark the occasion, Alistair Danhieux invited the young ceramist Océane Madelaine, trained in 2004 - 2005 at the CNIFOP in Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye, to join him.

Born in Crewe, England, in 1975, Alistair Danhieux settled in Puisaye in the early 2000s. Hailed as one of the most promising of his generation when he first appeared on the French ceramics scene, and at his first solo show at the gallery in 2009, dedicated to the "naked raku" for which he is renowned, the artist is now focusing on a new plastic approach to clay. In her creations, the path of life becomes the ideal breeding ground for a vast palette of shapes and forms that bring about a joyful mutation.
Exhibiting for the first time in the Yonne region, young ceramist Océane Madelaine presents a collection of fine, sober, uncluttered forms, creating landscapes of lines and materials subtly inspired by the Mediterranean garrigue of the Corbières region, where she has chosen to live.
