The magic of a sculpture happens when you feel the irrepressible urge to hold it in your hands and touch it. The pieces by Anders Børgesen (b. 1982, Herning, Denmark) are immediately seductive, with their harmonious structures, sensual surfaces and light presence in space. When he was preparing to become an art teacher, the future artist practiced drawing and painting, and experimented with different materials: papier-mâché, wax, wire, clay... Then something clicked. "I bought a vase by Axel Salto and was captivated by the tactility and vitality of its form. It seemed almost corporeal. I started making my own vases, and took courses in throwing. As soon as I touched the clay, it felt strangely familiar," he recalls. [...]

For his first exhibition at Galerie de l'Ancienne Poste, the young Danish ceramicist has chosen to present twenty-seven works of varying sizes (from 8 to 50 cm in height), all created within the last eight months. "My aim, Børgesen concludes, is to awaken curiosity through contemplation. I want visitors to feel this sense of stillness and movement, this quiet vitality I strive to convey".
