In the spring of 2016, when contemporary ceramic art will be in the spotlight with the CERAMIX exhibition at La Maison Rouge in Paris, in partnership with Sèvres-Cité de la Céramique, Galerie de l'Ancienne Poste is delighted to highlight the ceramic work of Camille Virot, a major figure in the practice of Raku in France, and one of the few artists in this discipline to feature in public and private contemporary art collections - including the FNAC - and to enjoy an international audience today.

The exhibition will present two ceramic focal points of Camille Virot's current work, as described by the artist himself:
"It's a fidelity to Japanese Raku, a fidelity that consists in not sticking to formalism, but in embracing what the material has to say.
That of fidelity to past evocations, returning to ancient forms, ancient in my own "landscape", but also in the attic of humanity: bowls, boxes, bracelets, masks, fetishes... Revisiting memories by refreshing them and adapting them to my language of today, and as with Raku, allowing oneself almost anything.
In both cases, do just about anything, redoing and redoing until the desired unexpected "thing" imposes itself."
