Guy Honoré, Echo sur la voute (rose), 2026
The title of Guy Honoré’s new exhibition at Galerie de l’Ancienne Poste is taken from Chant de résurrection, a work for organ by the composer Jean-Louis Florentz. For his second solo exhibition in Toucy, the French ceramic artist, born in Beauvais in 1966, continues to develop a distinctive body of work in which ceramics become the medium for a free- flowing, graphic and colourful pictorial language.
Guy Honoré’s artistic journey is shaped by a fruitful dialogue between tradition and emancipation. His work is rooted in the world of France’s great porcelain manufactories, where he spent many years working in the workshop. There, he developed an intimate understanding of materials and clays, of wheel-throwing and mould-making, as well as a mastery of ceramic techniques and the gestures they involve. In 2011, he chose to break free from these conventions and develop a visual language of his own. Bowls and vases, followed by sculptures, became the surfaces for drawings that would gradually assume a central place in the ceramic artist’s work.
